It's week 3 of January -- have you set your 2024 goals yet? Have you given up on your 20224 goals yet??? Ha. It's ok!!! We've all been there. To be honest. I am just barely getting my goals defined and easing into some new habits to make them happen.

Who says you must use a calendar year as your goal marker? Calendar makers, that's who! If you have no clue what your goals are for the year, or if you made big scary ones that you have no idea how to break down and make small pieces of progress toward each week/month, or if you're just on a general quest to be better at life... guess what? You can start anytime and make your timeline as long or as short as possible.
Take my goals, for example. We'll see if I am biting off more than I can chew for 2024, but I have picked a health goal (shocking, I know...), a business goal, and a personal goal. Throughout my day, I plan to do just ONE small thing in each "category" to move me toward each one. Breaking it down like this seems to be working. Maybe this approach will work for you, too! I figured it's what I do with my amazing clients, so why the heck don't I do it for myself?
Success isn’t about grinding in the trenches day and night. It’s about leveraging the right tools to do a better job than what I was doing previously so I can be and do what I want.
OK. So here are the details -- and I'll focus on business for now. Feel free to apply this to any of the goals you're setting this year.
Setting goals is essential to success in any field of business or life area as a means to ensure continual growth. Whether you're looking to increase sales, expand your customer base, or improve your health markers, your goals need to be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals is crucial. Doing so can create a roadmap for success and stay focused on what you want to achieve.
Start by defining what you want to achieve -- and be SPECIFIC with it. Once you know your goal, write it down and put it somewhere you will see it regularly throughout your day. A post-it, your screen saver, your phone backdrop, a notecard on your desk... get creative, but make sure to do it. Because keeping it just in your head makes it too easy to forget or ignore.
From there, you'll want to break this goal down into manageable steps to help you stay motivated and progress toward your larger objective. Each of these smaller goals should be specific, too.
Once you've set your goals, it's time to start focusing on making progress. You can track your progress using whatever method works best for you - an Excel sheet, an app, or good old pen and paper. Whatever will keep you going. And that's the thing. To keep GOING. Who cares if it takes longer than expected? That's ok. Are you moving forward? Are you learning from "mistakes" along the way? Cool. That's great! And (talking to myself here, too...) that's totally normal.
Another key to success and sustainability is telling someone about your goals and your plan. This can add that extra "game-changing" umph you need to move forward. Being accountable for making progress is a crucial part of achieving success. You may need a seasoned coach specific to your industry. Book that person. You may need new knowledge or skills. Find the resource you need and show up for it daily!
In case you are wondering, I can be the person who is with you every step of the way, providing support and guidance to keep you on track. Together, we will make a DOable plan and move you forward!
